![]() ![]() The game made use of traditional Resident Evil-style combat and exploration, but featured some great additions. We’re all familiar with the likes of Silent Hill, but we’d wager you may have missed out on Extermination.Ī full 3D survival horror, Extermination may have been plagued with some of the worst voice acting ever (which was actually slowed down or sped up to fit the lip syncing, with hilarious results), but the core gameplay was great. ![]() Survival horror is one of the defining genres of the early PlayStation era, and after Resident Evil‘s arrival on the PSOne thrust it into the mainstream, many clones emerged. It could also summon powerful deities.Īlthough nowhere near as polished or impressive as the God of War series, which would arrive around three years later, Rygar was a good action adventure, and one that flew well under the radar of many. Much like Kratos’ Blades of Chaos, this gave Rygar an impressive range of attacks, and the upgradable shield could grant new abilities. The weapon of choice was the Diskarmor, essentially a shield on a chain. As Rygar, players journeyed around the island of Argus engaging all sorts of mythological threats. Pre-dating the God of War series, Rygar was an update of the arcade and NES title, and included Devil May Cry-style play. If only a game based on a 70s movie would have excited the gaming crowd more. Add in mini-games for stealing car radios, robbing stores, and spreading your gang’s graffiti tag everywhere, and you’ve got a game that successfully captured the feel of the movie, while expanding on the original story, providing a deeper look at the Warriors themselves. The journey to that fateful meeting with Riffs leader, Cyrus, was handled by a brawler-style mechanic that let you take on the gang’s various rivals in hand-to-hand combat. Based on the 70s movie of the same name, The Warriors was a prequel of sorts to the events of the movie, depicting the origins of the titular street gang and looking at each larger-than-life character in more detail. Possibly my least favourite game ever made. This is another Rockstar outing, which started life on the PSP before being ported to the PS2. Sitting through 5 hours of Hatsune Miku, mixed up with a bit of Hello Kitty and a bit of Hannah Montana thrown in for good measure would have been 5 hours better spent than this. I gave it a 1 for looking nice but there was nothing else to like for me to rate it higher. ![]() Then the brush that doesn't work very well at all I can't understand the high scores. It is by far one of the worst games I have ever played. I was really excited to play it, I played it for about 5 hours the first night and woke up the next day and put it on eBay. ![]() There's no doubt that WRC 9 is a strong contender and should certainly be on the list for anybody who wants a great rally game for their Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X in a few months time. There are a few bugs but nothing game breaking in the least. In keeping with that the visuals, audio, general racing improvement, as well as improved physics. However, unlike last year's outing which was a massive leap, this seems to be content to simply refine. WRC 9 is yet another step ahead for the WRC series from previous installments. The audio is on the same level as the visuals. At least that's how the engines sound, well, if you're going that fast. However, you're not meant to be focusing on them, you're meant to be zipping past at 200 miles per hour to the winners cup. The only issue you may find is if you look too closely at the spectators or some backgrounds, the same quality isn't always apparent. If you turn your lights off, all you can hear is the thunder of the torrential rain on your roof and the crash as you hit the wall you couldn't see after spinning out after aquaplaning. From the great shots of light filtering through the lush trees, to the impossibly dark extreme weather events you can find in the campaign. By the time I'm recovering myself the game is transporting me back on the track with a stern look on its face and a sharp penalty to my time. Well, you may find yourself wrapping yourself around a surprising obstacle every now and then, particularly when you find a tree for example that's just chilling in the middle of the course? One thorn still there and if I've complained, you're allowed to go a bit off track and if you crash, the game needs to give you more time to recover. You'll find it a lot more challenging and a struggle to stay on course and not find yourself wrapped around the scenery as frequently. ![]() When it comes to the awe striking weather effects in WRC 9. From dirt to gravel, a dry surface, to a soaked surface, or snow, you'll find it genuinely feels different with a change of course or a change of car. About responding to the track, you'll find the game offers great reactions to different surface types and weather conditions. I'm not going to say the car sticks to the road, you'll get some air when needed as this is a rally game after all, but all this is part of the racing and your car responding to the track is a great improvement. Fortunately, KT Racing seems to have finally fixed a long-running issue where, even after the slightest of bumps, my car would go flying off like the wright brothers on an early flight attempt. It manages this through its improved physics, and just the general feel of the cars handling, as well as how they react to the varying challenges the game brings your way. It's still accessible enough that people of all ages can set up and enjoy they game at their desired skill set. Let's make one thing clear, this isn't a leap forward in the same sense that WRC 8 was however the net generation is right around the corner and it will be interesting to see what enhancements await with games like dirt 6 Irving soon. ![]() Let's make one thing clear, this isn't a leap forward in the same WRC 9 is yet the next installment in my long time enjoyable rally series. ![]() WRC 9 is yet the next installment in my long time enjoyable rally series. ![]() ![]() ![]() This organic lemon balm tea by Traditional Medicinals offers subtle tartness, perfect for beginners who never enjoy citrusy tea before. Note that there is no separate setup() and main() functions. Here is an example of a pure C program for blinking an LED. Avrdude will use ICSP for programming the device. It's easy to code in C and the GCC compiler is the same one included in Arduino. Years ago I was working with bare iron on an ATmega128 with the AVR toolchain (included with Arduino) and AVRdude (also included with Arduino I believe) and I found it a very pleasant chip to use (unlike mid-range 8 bit PICs). Grab the User Manual / Datasheet and start reading. The AVR platform is really a decent place to start. In effect, recreating what the libraries already do but without the bloat. You can learn to write to the bare iron in terms of timers, ADC, IO, etc. ![]() You can use the Arduino hardware without the libraries. There are two aspects to the problem of "where to start": Hardware and software (tools). I would love your opinion on what would be your recommendation for good entry points to learning C/C++ by yourself if you were not taking the Arduino route. Of course I do agree with you, that a proper production environment will suffer big time if you rely on basic Arduino programming skills. I doubt, that I would have been able to wrap my head around things like shifting registers, bit logic and the likes, without starting at the shallow end in the first place. The more things I build with tools like Arduino or Processing, the more I learn about "eloquent" ways of getting things done. I am not aiming to become a programmer, but am grateful for the opportunity to easily build my own hacky prototypes to illustrate an idea or build a temporary solution for an exhibition or other kind of presentation. Now, the more I stare into the abyss that is "actual programming", I can improve on my coding skills - ’though I guess my programming "skills" will never make it into a real production environment. However: When I started dipping my toes into the shallow waters of Arduino and working with micro controllers, I was glad to find a lot of libraries and helper functions like map() etc. Anyone can do it.Ĭode: template long map(T _x, A _x_min, B _x_max, C _out_from, D _out_to, typename std::enable_if::value >::type* = 0) and uniform random integers within a specified range are generated by Heck, even a six year old can cut with a knife, who needs a decade of education just to do a heart bypass. well, as foolish as thinking: well, start as a janitor at the hospital, work hard, get promoted to "orderly", then in time, get promoted as nurse, then promoted doctor, then heart surgeon. No doubt there are a few 10 year-olds who knows more math than most college grads can ever dream of, but to merely assume that math and other basics are irrelevant is. No wonder programmers are getting no respect these days. The talking heads on the show was amazed at how programming was easy and that kids would in no time be making 6 figures automating everything. The waiting room TV was showing a Microsoft elementary school project working with what appears to be 3rd/4th graders "programming" by (using some Microsoft developed tools) dragging cartoon icons around to make a "working application". It was just around the time when software became suspect for that LION air crash, just around that time I was at a tire-repair store waiting on some tire work. * *** */ I said deadly in the first paragraph, there is a reason. it will even help in understanding cooking recipes. If one can't answer that question, learning more math will help with understanding EE, politics, economy, history. ![]() ![]() * *** */ If you can answer this question, you don't need the map() function: In a class of 1234 students, 6.7% passed how many student passed? That is to "map" 6.7% from 100 (definition of percent) into 1234 (actual sample). It has been as successful and as deadly as "easy ways to do heart surgery for DIY'ers". (I think this exceeds the normal definition of a reply and drifted into the "rant" category) I think "map" function is a misguided attempt to make programming "easier" for everybody. ![]() ![]() This ensures that a single source of truth can be preserved for projects from design to construction and commissioning, after which the Akila integration will make sure that this digital thread is maintained through operations with accurate data inputs and outputs. Immediately after the recording of “Salt Lick”, Greig was replaced by bassist Billy Ethridge, a bandmate of Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Mitchell was replaced by Frank Beard of the American Blues. They released their first single, “Salt Lick”, in 1969, and the B-side contained the song “Miller’s Farm”. ZZ Top was managed by Bill Ham, a Waxahachie, Texas native, who had befriended Gibbons a year earlier. He then figured that “king is going at the top” which brought him to “ZZ Top”. Hill and thought of combining the two into “ZZ King”, but considered it too similar to the original name. The band had a little apartment covered with concert posters and he noticed that many performers’ names used initials. The original line-up was formed in Houston and consisted of Gibbons, bassist/organist Lanier Greig (died February 2013) and drummer Dan Mitchell. ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. By 2014, ZZ Top had sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. That includes 11 gold, seven platinum and three multi-platinum records as of 2016, according to the RIAA. Total record sales of 25 million place ZZ Top among the top-100-selling artists in the United States, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. The band’s top-selling album is their 1983 release Eliminator, which sold more than 10 million copies in the United States. Their songs have a reputation for containing humorous lyrics laced with double entendres and innuendo. Beginning with blues-inspired rock, the trio later incorporated new wave, punk rock and dance-rock by using synthesizers. The band released its first album-called ZZ Top’s First Album-in 1971. “Gibbons is one of America’s finest blues guitarists working in the arena rock idiom while Hill and Beard provide the ultimate rhythm section support.” ![]() “As genuine roots musicians, they have few peers”, according to critic Michael “Cub” Koda. The band has, since 1970, consisted of bassist/vocalist Dusty Hill, vocalist/guitarist Billy Gibbons (the band’s leader, main lyricist and musical arranger), and drummer Frank Beard. Where most veteran artists turn to Rick Rubin for a back-to-basics reboot, ZZ Top’s 2012 dalliance with the famed producer yielded “I Gotsta Get Paid,” a sleazy, grease-fried reinterpretation of DJ DMD’s Houston-rap standard “25 Lighters.ZZ Top is an American rock trio formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas. Since then, ZZ Top have kept on rollin’ past the half-century mark, and they remain the rare classic-rock institution that always keeps its ear to the ground for fresh inspiration. And it wasn’t just their appearance that had changed: With 1983’s blockbuster Eliminator, ZZ Top crosswired their gritty grooves with New Wave synths and sequencers to the tune of over 10 million copies sold, while a series of videos featuring hot models cruising around in the album cover’s customized vintage Ford Coupe made the band icons of the then-nascent MTV. Though ZZ Top often played the part of Southern showmen with their cowboy hats and Nudie suits, by the early ‘80s, Gibbons and bassist Dusty Hill had grown out their beards past their chests, lending this workmanlike band a quirky visual trademark just in time for the music-video era. But thanks to guitarist Billy Gibbons’ pedigree in ‘60s garage outfit The Moving Sidewalks, horndog rave-ups like “Tush” and “La Grange” eschewed epic, Skynyrd-sized jams for a raw, raunchy energy tailor-made for a target demographic of (as another one of their early standards put it) beer drinkers and hell raisers. Upon forming in Houston in 1969, ZZ Top were among a wave of Southern rock bands outfitting bluesy, British Invasion-schooled riffs with countrified fingerpicking and desert-baked grooves. The strangest thing about ZZ Top is that they can lay claim to being both the dirtiest no-nonsense blues-rock band of the ‘70s and the glitziest camera-ready electro-boogie group of the ‘80s. The only member of ZZ Top without a beard is drummer Frank Beard, but that’s just the second-strangest thing about this Texan trio. ![]() ![]() Trends and Disparities in HIV Diagnoses and Linkage to Care Among Gay and Bisexual Menĭuring 2018, gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) accounted for more than two-thirds (69.4%) of all new HIV diagnoses in the U.S.
